Hundred faces of Hungary – a colourful cross-country trip
Day One
Arrival in Budapest
Welcome on the airport. Transfer to a downtown hotel. Welcome aperitive in the lobby while checking in.
Dinner in a trendy restaurant nearby (retro, or an art-deco stylish restaurant)
Day Two
Explore Budapest
The private bus tour starts from a scenic spot of the city, par ex from the top of Gellért Hill. Here, your knowledgeable guide points out the landmarks, and tells the history of Budapest. Proceed to the historic core of Buda, seat of the first kings and the story continues. Entrance to Mathias (Coronation) Church, to Fishermen’s Bastion, coffee break in an evocative coffee shop. Cross the Danube River through one of the spectacular bridges, Chain Bridge or Margaret Bridge or Elisabeth Bridge to the Pest side. The Parliament, Szabadság Square, St.Stephen’s Basilica, Andrássy Avenue, Opera House, Heros’ Square with the millenary monuments and museums. Vajdahunyad Castle. End of the tour at app. 2:00 PM
Free time until dinner
Wine tasting party in a family run wine cellar in the outskirts, Budafok famous for its century old wine cellars. Know the story of a nowadays entrepreneur wine- growing family. After visiting the 200 year old cellar (part of the 25 kms long cave system), home made food, 7 sorts of excellent wines will be presented by the host and hostess .
On the way back Budapest by Night program. Visiting a couple of heights to enjoy the night panorama.

Day Three
Western Hungary: Győr-Pannonhalma-Fertőd-Sopron
Győr (beautiful Barock downtown, Cathedral w. precious –bust of St.Ladislas, Miklós Borsos House)– Pannonhalma (largest Benedictine Abbey on Unesco World Heritage list) - Fertőd (the Hungarian Versailles residences of the Princes Eszterházy and home of componist Joseph Haydn) – Sopron (miniature Barock downtown w.charming old houses )Dinner w. tasting of the famous local wine , Soproni Kékfrankos (Blau Franc) in one of the good local inns.

Day Four
Spa Bük or Sárvár – Herend – Keszthely
The region is called Transdanubia spotted by a number of spas: Balf, Bük or Sárvár rank among the best. A pampering spa experience is scheduled at a wellness complex for this morning after the buffet breakfast in Sopron. Lunch on the spa resort.
Pm. Proceed to Herend home of the world famous china. Visit the Porcellaneum, the museum, the factory and the show rooms.
Proceed to Lake Balaton the largest warm water lake of Central Europe and main resort area..Visit Tihany Peninsula and the Abbey .Overnight in Keszthely.

Day Five
Keszthely - Pécs
Am in Keszthely: visit to the Festetics Castle (precious library and furniture) . The counts Festetics were the landlords of the extreme west of lake Balaton and founded the agricultural school Georgikon. Proceed to Pécs where a guided tour will introduce this vibrant seat of Southern Hungary and its history: St.Peter’s cathedral, early Christian catacombes, Djami (Mosque)- Barbacan. Admission either to Zsolnay Museum (admireable eosin glazed ceramics) or to Csontváry Museum (picture gallery), or toVasarely MuseumOvernight & dinner in the Art Nouveau Hotel Palatinus

Day Six
Villány-Mohács-Szeged
With a quick visit to the fabulous wine region Villány the tour continues though Mohács to the Great Hungarian Plain by crossing the Danube.Arrival to Szeged on the Tisza the second largest river of Hungary. Szeged is equally the center of the Southern region. A very tipical Hungarian place, cultural center and university town with the most beautiful Main Square (Széchenyi tér) of Hungary. The Szeged Paprika and Fish Stew are legendary. Exploration of the places of interest by a local guide: Votive Church, City Hall, Theatre, the Great Synagogue, the riverbanks, etc. The evening is dedicated to great fish dinner in a restaurant on the river.
Day Seven
Ópusztaszer - Kecskemét – Eger Ópusztaszer
National Historic Park a symbolic place commemorating the conquest of the seven Magyar tribes who crossed the Carpathians and spread out across the plains. Many sights of interest; an absolute must is the Cyclorama which depicts Prince Árpád leading the tribes into the Carpathian Basin; village museum, statue park, etc. Next stop is on the Main Square of Kecskemét and visit the beautiful Art Nouveau Palace of the Town Hall. Proceed for lunch to a horse breeding farm followed by spectacular horse show. Evening arrival to Eger, the seat of the northern region.

Day Eight
Eger - Hollókő – Gödöllő
Am guided visit of attractive Eger, city of reputed wines: legendary castle and casemates, Provost’s house, Franciscan church, County Hall, Lyceum, Minorite Church, artistic wrought- iron gates, the Basilica. Lunch and tasting the famous Bull’s Blood in a cellar in the Pretty Women’s Valley.Pm. Continuation of the tour to Hollókő (World Heritage) where village structure and about 50 peasant style houses kept their appearance almost intact .The exeptional wealth and beauty of the costumes and the headdresses of the Palóc women are best seen in the local folk museum.Last stop before returning to Budapest is Gödöllő. Visit the imperial appartments and park of the Royal Mansion, favorite summer resort and hunting terrain of Emperor Francis Joseph and Empress Elisabeth. Farewell dinner in Budapest
